After the Indian government asked to block the content, Twitter filed a case against it. In the year 2021, the Indian government brought the ‘International Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code Rules 2021′ for social networks, but even today many social networks have not followed it.

The social networks have not appointed Resident Grievance Officer, Chief Grievance Officer and Nodal Contact Person, as stipulated in the regulations.

Twitter has sued India for not following these rules. India had given Twitter until last Monday to censor content in India, but Twitter has filed a lawsuit against the directive.

Since 2021, the relationship between Twitter and India is not very good. Last year, the Indian government threatened Twitter employees with jail if they did not delete tweets about the farmers’ movement.

Similarly, recently the Indian government directed to ban all tweets of Freedom House saying that freedom of the press is decreasing in India.
