Eleven officials of NASA, a Nepali organization in the United States, have resigned

Washington DC Eleven officials of the Naples Association of South East America (NASA), an old organization of Nepalis living in the southeastern US state, have resigned. Expressing disagreement with the leadership of the organization, 11 out of 21 office bearers have submitted their collective resignations.

Senior Vice President Ambika Lohani, Vice President Bishal Bharti, Treasurer and Joint Secretary Rama Ghimire, members Pralad Shah, Sabitri Ranabhat, Deepak Ranabhat, Narendra Baral, Prahlad Shah, Sudan Gaire, Amod Devkota and Sushil Poudel have submitted their resignations. According to Bharti, one of the resigning vice-presidents, the majority of the members have resigned against the single-mindedness of chairman Vinay Aryal and general secretary Krishna Shrestha.

NASA’s biennial leadership selection conference and election was scheduled for September 5 in Orlando, Florida. But with Florida being the hardest hit state in the United States due to the growing Corona epidemic, two-thirds of board members decided to postpone the conference, general assembly and election for a few months.

However, Bharti said that the chairman and secretary general of the organization had informed him that the election would be held in Florida on the scheduled day even if the conference and general meeting were postponed. According to him, the majority of the board members requested for an emergency meeting of the board immediately after the notification was sent.
