Facebook’s corporate name changes to ‘Meta’, rebranding in a new way

Facebook has changed its corporate name. After 17 years of establishment, on Thursday, Facebook announced the decision to keep its corporate name ‘Meta’ from now on. As the company continues to expand into areas such as virtual reality beyond social media, the new name will encompass the work it does in detail.

Along with this, the name of the main company of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Oculus will now be Meta Inc. Mark Zuckerberg, the head of Facebook, announced the company’s new name while announcing plans to create “Metaverse”. The company’s new announcement comes amid negative news about Facebook after a former employee leaked documents.

Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, announced the new name during Facebook’s AR/VR focused event held on Thursday. He said the name had to be changed because the current name “probably doesn’t represent all the work they are doing now or will do in the future”.

“Over time, I hope we will be seen as a metaverse company,” Zuckerberg said.

Previously, there was a “Like” logo with the thumb pointing upwards, but with the change in the company’s name, the logo has been changed to an infinity shape.
