Meta removed 21.7 million violent content

Meta has removed twice as much violent content from its platform as before. In the first quarter of 2022, Meta removed 21.7 million pieces of content.

Meta says that the contents encourage violence. This is 12.4 million more than the first quarter of last year.

There has been an increase in removing content to some extent on Instagram as well. In the first quarter of 2022, Meta removed 2.7 million pieces of content from Instagram, up from 2.6 million in the previous quarter.

Among the posts removed by Meta, 98 percent of the posts were removed before the user reported them. After 9 hours of posting a content and more than 46 thousand shares, Meta removed it.

Meta also deletes some posts by mistake. Meta has restored 756,000 Facebook posts that were accidentally deleted.
